Marcelis Garden
The new urban district is located on the Ragheno site in South Mechelen. This future green district, with a surface area of 59,000 sqm, offers a harmonious mix of living, working and recreation along the Leuven-Dijle canal. The name ‘Marcelis Garden’ refers to Benedict Marcelis, a monk who was one of the first to cross this canal.
The beginning phase of Marcelis Garden includes the construction of Mechelen's very first yacht marina with a surface area of 3,850 sqm. Later phases will include the development of a central park, which will form a direct cycling and walking link between the marina, Mechelen's train station and further to Mechelen Nekkerspoel station.
The modern apartment buildings in Marcelis Garden surround green courtyards with water ponds designed by landscape architect Wirtz, creating a peaceful and natural environment.
